BNW quiz retake

Analyze a pattern established in BNW.  Please choose a different one than the one you are using for your paper.  In an essay (20-25 minutes), describe the pattern, offer text support establishing that pattern, and comment on how it might have progressed to the that level.  Please remember that the government in BNW is simply fulfilling its social contract, and is not a nefarious, evil government.

The 2012 Election

Now that the election is in the history books...and I am sure the books will record it as historic...let the analysis begin. Here are some links to some amazing data
1) Election results by state, by county and by margin of victory
2) Campaign spending
3) Exit polls
4) Voter shifts from 2008

Choose one or more links, spend a bit of time studying the data/graphics and then respond to the following - SO WHAT?

Yes, this is an assignment. Try and post early so someone else hasn't already posted your brilliance.

Cabinet

In preparation for our big Executive branch assignment, check out the following article about the subsequent "Obama Cabinet". Maybe you could apply now that you have a quarter of AP Gov't under your belt. Feel free to respond or maybe make your recommendation for who you think would be qualified to field some of these high level positions.

Budget Hero

Thank you to the 32 of you who played Budget Hero. It was hilarious to read how many of you approached the game from a common sense point of view and attempted to do what you felt was right for the nation and how little progress you made at putting a dent in the deficit never mind the debt. Then many of you attempted to get tough and realized if you did what was needed you would never get re-elected because of how many people you would anger by raising their taxes or cutting their programs. Thus the dilemma. As Bryan said "the game is rigged"  actually it isn't rigged but it gives you a pretty good idea of what a mess our fiscal house is in as we head towards this so called "fiscal cliff".
A.We can't afford to let taxes increase,
B. we can't afford to cut spending on programs,
C. we can't afford the deficits we are running and
D. we can't afford to go further in debt

However you can't help A and B without letting C and D happen.
You can't help C and D without letting A and B happen.

Maybe if we all just go sleep and wake up tomorrow it will all be better.

Hey APLG'ers,

It is time to put on your "FISCAL POLICY" hat and become a Budget Hero. Here is the link to the Budget Hero website. Play the game for as long as you wish and then post the following. What badges did you select (what were your priorities), what were some of your key moves (what did you attempt to balance the budget ie. spending cuts and/or tax increases) and what were the results of your actions

And if you do become a Budget Hero, please run for Congress ASAP and get us out of this mess. Posts are due by 3:03 on Thursday Nov. 8th.
