The New 50 States
Check out the following article and subsequent map of our new nation. Read the article, look at the map and then feel free to post your comments about the consequences of "redistricting our states". Keep your posting short - 1 key take away so as you can leave others their moments of brilliance.

I think that it would be interesting to see how the senators would handle the changes in districts that place them against 4 or 5 other senators who are also currently elected in our current state distribution. Obviously they wouldn't be able to count on the people that vote based solely on "Oh I've heard that person's name before!" They would have to campaign super well in order to get their position.
This article made me think of that Disney movie, Meet the Robinsons, where in the future Canada has become a state called North Montana. I think the idea is ridiculous, making one huge state out of the big states with low populations. No one likes driving through boring landscapes now, but at least we have the Wyoming welcomes you sign to break the monotony, imagine driving through Montana, Wyoming, and into South Dakota before you finally see Ogallala welcomes you. I do like his new names though.
My initial thought was that it's silly to redistrict it to 50 states. Why 50? Why not 13, like the original 13 colonies, and then use the number of electoral votes the founding fathers originally had and such? Or maybe make it an even 100 states. Or exactly 500 electoral votes. As long as we are thinking about different ways to vote, maybe we should scrap what we currently have and come up with something different!! I think the states should have a more equal say in who is their leaders, but I don't think that redistricting is the way to go about fixing that. Maybe redo the number of representatives a population gets and then also the number of representatives so that it is evened out.
