Scandal in the House

Paul brought up Tom Foley in class today and if you aren't sure of the details...look it up. Anyways here is an interesting article about "how things are" and "how things used to be" according to a man that was directly involved in how things used to be. Enjoy!

See if you can pick up any use of your rhetorical devices in Mr. Califano's article.

When the House Could Clean Itself

I noticed as far as rhetorial devices a huge emphasis on ethos. Obviously this is an ethical and moral issue, so it seems fairly fitting. I also thought that the word choice in this piece such as disgusting, infested and the reference to dirty laundry was very effective. I thought this article was very interesting. Before reading this, I had no idea that the previous "scandal" used as an example in this article had ever occurred. Unfortunately, in a way, history has repeated itself. I do however wonder, if a large case will unfold from this offense as it did before. Is there a serious investigation of sexual crimes and drug abuse inside the legislature in the near future? I guess we have yet to see how this story further unfolds.
