What Democrats Would Do
First of all, I hope you all have a great MEA break.
Secondly, now that you all know your political persuasion, I hope you know how the 2 main parties align. We will be spending considerable more time talking politics and the influences as we get closer to midterm elections.
Check out this recent article in the Wash. Post entitled What Democrats Would Do in which it is spelled out what some of the Democrats policies might be should they take control of the House/Senate/Both.
For you Democrats and Republicans in the crowd this should illicit some sort of response. Feel free to blog it or simply put your head out the window and scream.
Later, Mr. Thompson
And, some other interesting recent events, as I am a bit of a political junkie. . .
Today had another Washington Post article tearing up the blogosphere which indicated MN 01 (Gutknecht v. Walz) is the DCCC's #1 priority -- in fact, the only race mentioned! It's at the end of the third paragraph. Notice a pattern of both your teachers independently reading the Post. . . hmmm. . . maybe you should add it to your list.
And, a new website that exploded into the millions of hits in the 2004 election, and is now the second place most polinauts go. Who knows the first place?
Later, Mr. Decker

Oh man, where to start with the "What Democrats Would Do" article, there’s so much in there.
In the third paragraph, it mentions voting on a raise in minimum wage, sure those with min wage jobs think its great, but the major flaw is that these Legislators are trying to allow people to make a living working a min wage job, that’s just ridiculous, and its just increasing the number of illegals that want to come to the US. I say keep min wage the same, and make people get a different higher paying job if they’re trying to support a family, don’t give them the false hope that they can do it on min wage.
Here’s a quote from the fifth paragraph, "They also will ban members from accepting gifts and paid trips from lobbyists." (Id normally use a profane statement for that, but I will suppress that urge, because I know that profanity only turns people against my argument) Anyway, I seriously doubt that will happen, because the Democrats are also the receivers of those gifts, and I doubt they are going to give that up.
War in Iraq:
I gladly welcome anyone to argue this one with me…. I say go ahead and let em vote for a withdrawal of our troops, be it in stages or all at once. Right now Iraq isn’t ready to support itself, and if legislation is imposed to prevent us from staying there and helping them, the government will collapse, and anarchy will prevail until somebody strong takes power and it goes back to the way it was, dominated and run by fear. When that happens, come election time 2008 we Republicans can blame it on the Democrats and another Republican will be in charge, thus extending the power struggle between the Democratic majority in the houses, and the Republican president.
And finally, about the fuel restrictions just go drill for oil in Alaska.
I’m pretty sure all you liberals have already guessed who this is, yep, this is Aaron
First off, let me say that nothing would make me happier than Nancy Pelosi as Speaker!!
I would love to see minimum wage raised; those who work those jobs work harder than anyone else just to get by, there may be some who could get a better job, but often they are so exhausted and downtrodden that they truly don't have the time or energy to find another job, and often aren't qualified anyway. If people need to work a minimum wage job to get by, chances are that they are in a hole they can't escape from on their own: raising minimum wage is the least we can do, and I think big business can handle the cost!
However, I'm going to have to agree with Aaron on Iraq: I may find the way it was started and thus far, managed, despicable, but now that we are so deeply involved, pulling out would just make things worse. However, I do think we need to rework our plans, because they have not been effective in curbing violence or promoting peace thus far.
I hope that the government becomes much more involved in energy; more gas is no longer the solution, and even if it were, ruining a pristine enviornment in order to get a temporary supply of oil (at best), wouldn't be the answer. We need to look ahead to renewable energy and mass transit, or we will truly be in trouble in a few decades when gas is virtually impossible to get. Starting a trend toward renewable energy and enviornmental responsibilty won't be easy (Americans love their SUVs), so I think government funding for development, and stricter fuel efficiency standards need to become a focus.

Hey shipra, here are the numbers I promised you about border security, I think you would enjoy reading this article
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/09/20040921-19.html
Also, the 2006 national budget includes $6.7 billion; now tell me that the border security is bad
Also, if you really want alternate power sources, just go back to nuclear power.
