College Cost Reduction and Access Act
Hey seniors, have been wondering how to pay for your college of choice? President Bush and Congress have got something for you. Check out the new law the president has signed! (An interesting aside: The House of Representatives approved the law 292 to 97; the Senate vote was 79 to 12. Only Republicans voted against it.)
Bush Signs Sweeping Student Loan Bill Into Law
Hope this makes for a happy weekend!

"Lending industry advocates, who have been railing against the reforms since they were proposed, said Bush's signature will only hurt students and the lending companies. Kevin Bruns, executive director of America's Student Loan Providers, said the new law will take away 80 percent of the companies' federal subsidies over the next five years, which could result in fewer loan benefits for students."
How selfish do these people have to be to make a statement like that? They actually expect us to believe that getting money directly from the government as aid is a negative thing. If a person is given more money through federal programs, they will not have the same need for loans that they previously had. Moreover, we are not coming out at a loss due to interest by the time we are out of college.

I wonder how many of them were affiliated with lending companies =).
Always there with an opinion,

"This bill will help ensure that no qualified student is prevented from going to college because of the cost,"
The bill paints a pretty picture but I'd want to see just what the cons are. Maybe the loan companies are "selfish" but it wouldn't make their claims unwarranted.
(no "that" used, what an accomplishment)

It'll be interesting to see just how much this will affect us as incoming freshmen next year. (If at all)
