yeah i know im late on this. But I wanted to make a comment on the statment of "cultivating our garden." So i viewed it as we must broaden our horizons and travel to a different city/state/country and experience other cultures. Pangloss also says "becuase when man was put in the garden of Eden, he was put there 'to dress it and keep it,' that is, to work; which proves that man was not born to be idle." Candide, Pangloss, and co. all end up bored with their life in the end and it sounded like they rather go through their tragedies again then be bored.
