Who Am I? Liberal, Conservative, Moderate, confused?

Please take a few minutes to respond to the 53 questions that will help identify who you are. Take a look at your results. Compare with other persons who are like you, different than you, live in other states/nations etc. Do a quick response on the blog to explain what you found out. I don't care if you are authoritarian or libertarian, but tell us if you found out anything new about yourself politically or if you are who you thought you were.

Please post by the time we return from break so we can talk political ideology.

Here's who I am!!!

I am more to the left and authoritarian than people in Minnesota. But when compared to people in Canada, I am much more authoritarian and further to the right (clearly I have lived in Minnesota too long and have forgotten where I came from). When I compared myself to women who are the same age and race as me, I was almost identical to them left/right but a bit more authoritarian.

No real surprises to me about myself so I think the site has some merit.

Mr. Thompson

According to the quiz, I am center-right social libertarian, coordinates (1.54, -4.12). However, I am around 4 to the left on both foreign policy and culture. I was unsurprised by the results.

Due to the poor statistics presented by the poll, I am labeled as more right and libertarian than pretty much everyone, including the states of Texas, Louisiana, and Georgia. I have to go into comparisons with the Republican or Libertarian parties to get results otherwise. Note the disclaimer:

"Disclaimer: the underlying data used to generate the graph above was not scientifically gathered. It relies on self-selection and volunteer self-identification. Thus this information is intended for entertainment only."

Mr. Ramp would disagree with our using these statistics at all, because voluntary response is bad.

So, I am a center-left social libertarian, which to be honest, made absolutely no sense, since I had no idea what any of that meant. I had to google everything to understand what everything acctually meant. I am a lot more libertarian that people under the age of eighteen, which didn't really shock me at all.

In fact, I was more left and farther down the libertarian scale than anyone I really compared myself with. However, I was really shocked at my score on how "anti-war" I was. I like to think that, while I don't really like war all that much, that I supported it, but when I saw my score I was like, "What?". I was three notches off from the farthest I could go on that scale.
Compared to people in MN, I am so far away from the average person, that it really made me question just why I live in Minnesota. But then again, I am one of a kind.
I thought this would be a really boring test, but it turned out to be really cool, good job on quiz selection Mr. Thompson!

I'm a left(3.69) off-center social moderate with a tendency to be more authoritarian(0.93) than libertarian. This really didn't make any sense with me, as I always viewed myself as a "power to the people" kind of guy. I guess my responses to certain questions must have influenced it.

Foreign Policy: Slightly Neo-conservative(1.75)

Culture: Slightly Liberal(-1.59)

According to the quiz, I am a left moderate social authoritarian (-3.09, 1.5). Like Kelsey, I had to do some research to more fully understand what this classified me as. After looking it up, I was a little suprised at my result, but at the same time it kind of made sense. I expected to be a conservative, but I think when I answered the questions, I did do it more liberally. Things like abortion - I don't really agree with it, but I also believe that it is someone's choice to do it if they physically or psychologically can't handle having a child. So even though I personally would not support things like abortion or gay marriage, I believe it is people's right to have a choice. So, I was slightly liberal. For moderate, I do see some of the positive points of being more progressive, but I sometimes want things more reigned in than it would suggest. For authoritarian, it basically means I like it when rules are followed, which does fit me. So, although I was suprised about the liberal characteristic, it was only slight and the rest made sense.

I was more authoritarian than other <18 year olds, Minnesotans, and Americans in general. I was slightly more left too, but not by much. Also, I was -3.03 on foreign policy and -1.03 on culture.

I am a "left social moderate" (Left 4.78, Libertarian 0.79). I'm in the middle of the left half for both foreign policy and culture. No big surprises there on my part. As for how I compare to others, I compared myself to other middle easterners, and was surprised to see that the only difference is that they were slightly closer to the right (putting them almost in the center of the grid). For some reason "moderate" was not what I expected from my demographic.

I am a centrist moderate social authoritarian (-.5,3.35.). I have always been pretty moderate so this doesn't surprise me very much. I probably would have placed myself a little more to the right, but not by much. I thought that I would have been more libertarian, but when I think about how I answered the questions, it makes sense that I am authoritarian.

Comparted to other Minnesotans, I am much more authoritarian, but I am only a little further right.
This is also true when I compare myself to others in my age group.

I am a center-left moderate social libertarian. Compared to females in Minnesota, there really is only a small difference, I'm a bit more left and libertarian. However, when I compared myself to Russian females the same age as me, I saw a great gap between the libertarian scores as those who took the test seemed to be more neutral. Then I also compared myself to people in Kazakhstan, my score was way off, but I'm not even going to go into greater detail with it because only 2 people participated in this. I'm surprized that anyone in Kazakhstan even took this quiz.
I didn't belive that I was so great on the left libertarianism side, but then again I don't have that strong of political beliefs. These results are probably off considering I'm on break when it's hard to wrap one's head around politics... or maybe more that I don't even want to.

I am a center-left moderate social authoritarian.
(Left: 1.83, Authoritarian: 2.97). When comparing myself to other white females ages 18-29 in the United States, I found out that I am much more authoritarin than the average, but I am about as far left as the average.
Taking this quiz, I realized that there are a lot of issues that I have never taken the time to consider. Because of this, I am not affected by my results.

I thought it was interesting to find out that I am almost right on the line between right and left (0.2 to the left). It immediately made me think of the ideal judge being at 0.0. Hey, that could be me! Although, something tells me that if someone made enough radical claims in both directions on the spectrum they would end up a moderate. Despite the statistical problems that Sam pointed out in his post, I'm still fairly sure this is a good guess at my political stance. I wasn't surprised at the reading for libertarian (2.64), since I already considered myself a fan of small government. The readings for foreign policy and culture were unsurprising (2.8 to he left) as well with my anti-war views and my acceptance of our melting pot culture.

A centrist social libertarian. My coordinates were (-0.35,-4.26). For foreign policy I was a -.26, and on the "culture war" I scored -2.3. My results for foreign policy surprised me the most, especially since I had many pro-military answers to questions. Another thing I was surprised by is that my results weren't very close to the major parties. I was closest to the Independent party, but I am quite a bit more Libertarian than they are. Some of my previously held thoughts were confirmed, e.g. I am further to the right than average Minnesotans and that I am further to the left than most Republicans.

I am a center-left moderate social libertarian (-2.98, -3.22). I really had no idea what that even meant, so I too had to look it up. It seems pretty accurate to what I thought I was. I was close to the average of all test-takers, but as Sam said, this is a biased sample statistically. I compared myself to Caucasian men and women in Minnesota, and I found that my views were closer to men's than women's. This was a decent quiz (not boring), but I didn't like the fact that they didn't explain what your results meant.

According to the quiz, I am a left social libertarian (Left: 4.77, Libertarian 3.73.); my score for foreign policy was almost the exact average for all who have taken the quiz, and my score for culture was more left than the average.

When I compared myself to other males as well as females under the age of 18 living in the USA, I was considerably left overall. Determined to find a group of people who's views were closely aligned to my own, I compared my results with other 18 and under people from countries in Europe, Asia, and South America; after many trials, the country with people my age and under whose views were closest was Germany, and it was still a ways off. My data ended up being much more uncommon, even radical, than I anticipated.

I am center-left social moderate (left 1.31, authoritarian 0.64. I'm on the left side but near the middle for both foreign policy and culture. When comparing myself to other males, age 18-29, in Minnesota I found that I am more authoritarian and more to the left. I thought I would have more similar results when I compared my results.

The cool results this quiz gave informed me that I am a center-left social moderate. (Left 1.48, authoritarian 0.13). I am also more of a non-interventionalist (-4.78) and a cultural liberal (-4.4).
Honestly, I am not sure on how I feel on some of the questions that were asked so my results being close to the graph's origin didn't surprise me too much.
Lastly, compared to males ages 70 and above living in the Netherlands, I am considered more towards the left.

I guess I am "left social moderate libertarian." According to the site, that is what most people in my age group and my ethnicity are. I guess I'm not really surprised because I don't belive in a strong government. At least I'm pretty sure thats what the quiz means...

I am a left moderate social libertarian. [Left: 3.5, Libertarian: 1.34] I am also more on the pacifist and anti-war side of for foreign policy [-3.85]. I am still left for the cultural spectrum but farther left [-4.69]

When I compared myself to people in my age group [18-29] in the U.S. I ended up being more left [it didn't give me a number of how much but I'm guessing like 1.5 left] and a little more authoritarian [guessing about 1 up]. But when i compared to people of my age group in MN i was closer to the average than the overall US.

My results didn't really surprise me at all, I was maybe a little more left than I thought I would be if anything.

My cool results:
I am center-keft moderate social libertarian left(2.18), libertarian (1.18).

When compared to other white females under 18 in MN, I was just a bit more liberal which is what I expected.

The quiz was interesting, especially since I've never thought about some of the questions before. However, I wish my results would have been given with more of an explanation attached.

I am a left social libertarian. I wasn't too surprised by my results. Compared to my age demographic, I am just slightly more left winged and libertarian than the average. When I looked at results among Asians, I was surprised to see that most are almost directly between Libertarians and Authoritarian and slightly more left wing. However, I was very similar to female Asians in my age group.

According to the quiz I am a left moderate social authoritarian which wasn't something that surprised me or that I already knew because quite honestly, I had no idea what to label my political views as. Some of the questions on the quiz were hard to answer because I felt like I either didn't have enough knowledge on the topic or I didn't really have an opinion. Compared to other females under 18 living in Minnesota, I lean slightly more to the left and I'm a bit more Authoritarian.

I am more to the left and authoritarian than most people in Minnesota. However when compared to people in the UK I am equally left as them but more authoritarian than they are. When compared to guys who are my age and the same race as me I am more to the left and am more authoritarian than that of my peers. My results aren't surprising to me.

LEft. Social. Moderate> Authoritarian. Well, I was suprised that's actually a political party. I feel very republican, though.... sooo. Hey! I was surprised by where I was with the military (like spending, etc.), because I hadn't felt like I had to pick sides before. And on other topics. fun survey. By the way, I was way more farther left than other republicans. Weird! guess that's why I'm in government class.

I was a little to the left and down a bit towards Libertarian. Both my culture and foreign policy were to the left. I was candid about the results. I didn't really have a mind set on what I thought I was. I compared my results to other women and we were pretty much matched along with people that were of the same age group. I don't think that this quiz would be accurate in some cases because a lot of the answers depended on certain ocassions or an answer was followed by a solution that I didn't agree with. For example: one of the questions (more of a statement) asked something like,, "People who express descrimination or hatred to a group should be locked up. This way they won't have to be seen." That wasn't the exact question, but it was similar. And I would agree that these expressions should be prevented from the public, but I don't think locking up people who want to express themselves, is the right way to go even if I don't agree with them. When I mentioned if it depended, I could use this same question and say that the answer depends on what kind of expression. There's different connotation between expressing superiority of one race over the other and expressing hate to another group.

According to the quiz I am a center-left moderate social libertarian (Left: 2.43, LIbertarian: 1.15). On the foreign policy line I was a Non-intervetionalist (-3.65) and I was a cultural liberal (-4.47). These results did not surprise me; I have always seen myself as a little bit left-leaning. When I compared myself to males in India the same age as me, I found that I was less liberal and that the Indians were actually Authoritarian.

Just as Sam pointed out, I would like to point out a flaw with the survey. Some of the questions are worded in a way that one would expect one answer to be selected more than the other, regardless of the survey-takers actual views. Mr. Ramp would not want us to use this illegitimate data.

I've always been very neutral whenever someone asks me my political views, and usually I just tell them I'm sick of everything political. If I had to go with a party, it would be republican...

My graph pretty much told me what I already knew. I'm literally dead center in the middle of Authoritarian and Libertarian, and I'm barely to the Right.

I win :D

When compared to everyone who's taken the quiz I tended to be slightly more left and authoritarian; this held true for many of the countries I compared myself to. It was the same when I compared myself with <18, Female, and everyone in the U.S. although I was pretty evenly scaled left to right with females and U.S. citizens. Compared with those who fit my demographic I was barely left and slightly more Authoritarian than they.

I didn't really know what the results told me and had to go look them up, and when I did I felt they matched up for the most part. My results may be slightly off due to the fact that there were some questions I didn't have a clue how to answer and some I found hard to strictly define my feelings on. Overall it was interesting to look at and do.

I was a center-left moderate social libertarian. Left: 2.33, Libertarian: 1.25. On foreign policy i scored a -1.02, which meant i was more of an anti-war activist and a -3.19 on culture, which was totally expected. I was almost an exact match with the average number of quiz takers, and i believe myself to be quite liberal so this was not a surprise to me at all.

According to the quiz, I am a "far-right moderate social libertarian." My coordinates were (8.28,-1.23) making me the furthest right wing person in the class. I knew I'd be on the right, but I didn't think that I would be as far to the right as I was.

I was surprised to see how Sam's results compared to what I would have expected - I was pleasantly surprised to see that he was on the right. He's a closet conservative and he knows it.

I was also surprised to see just how left the class was; I was expecting a few more people to swing right, but from what I've gathered there are very few of us in the right.

P.S. Republicans > R.I.N.O > all

My compass reads that I am a center-left social moderate (Left: 1.69, Authoritarian: 0.83). I'm really not that interested in politics. So, there is really no surprise that I'm basically at the origin of the graph. It does say that I am a pacifist and an anti-war activist, which I guess is true. As for culture, I am only peeking into the liberal side. Compared to the average of all quiz takers, I almost match up perfectly with everyone.

I ended up to be about 3 points towards the left. It was interesting that when it came to culutural issues, I was more liberal than when it came to foreign policy. I compared myself to Finland and found that my results were almost identical to theirs. Both males my age and people my parents' age (40-49) scored slightly more conservative than I did. These results were about what I expected as I was raised in a liberal household.

According to this quiz, I am a left moderate social libertarian. I was surprised to see that I was more libertarian than an authoritarian, mostly due to my personal habits and mannerisms in everyday life. I was more libertarian and to the left than the average Minnesotan (I was surprised-I originally thought that Minnesotans were more libertarian). Compared to <18 year olds, i was more to the left as well. I wasn't surprised that I was more culturally liberal than most Minnesotans, since my parents are like that too.

All in all, good quiz! I had some surprises, but I really liked analyzing my political views.

According to the quiz I was a left moderate social libertarian. I was a little further to the left but about equally as libertarian as the average. Compared to other 18 to 29 year old Minnesotan Democratic males (575 others) I'm a just a little further to the left and a little more authoritarian.

I ended up being a left moderate social libertarian. This didn't surprise me much, like most peoples.
When I did the comparison, I decided to compare to the group I thought would disagree with me the most, or at least be more centered. I did minnesotans age 50-59, which would cover a lot of the adults/parents that I see and talk to. Surprisingly they were to the left more than I had anticipated, so I then looked at minnesotans of all ages, and of course it centered out a litle, but was still obviously in favor of the left.

I am a center left social moderate Left 1.78 Authoritarian 0.04. Males in my age group in Minnesota tend to be more libertarian and more moderate than I am. People the age 70 or older in Minnesota are about the same amount of left as I am and slighltly more libertarain.

I am not very surprised by my results. I thought I would be pretty moderate since I tend to think there should be a balanced government control but if I were to lean towards something I figured it would be to the left (liberal) because I tend to think people should be able to run themselves and take care of themselves on most issues.

I was absent the day this was assigned and was out the country for winter break.(Hence why this is late)
