Campaign finance has to do with any funds that a political candidate uses to promote either the office they are trying to be elected into or their political party; these funds are collected through donation. Last April, the Supreme Court took away the ban that had previously put a cap on how much money a single donor could give to their preferred candidate and party. This act seems to be currently favoring the Republican party donors as they have donated almost twice as much as Democrat supporters.

Frac sand mining (the mining of sand used for fracking, a method of obtaining natural gas and oil) harms the environment, taints water supplies, pollutes the air, and ruins agricultural soils. There are currently few laws (which only apply to individual mines, thus ignoring the overall impact of mining clusters) regarding this practice. They are also poorly enforced. The government of the United States needs to be the government of the United States (not the government of israel, iraq, afghanistan, etc) and address issues affecting its own people. Problems at home must be fixed before problems abroad. If that is not the case, a government does not deserve to govern.

Legalizing Marijuana..As of right now there are 23 states where the use of marijuana is legalized today. States should continue to legalize marijuana because in a odd way it is in fact growing our economy, marijuana is one of the biggest growing cash crop in North America for one reason: the different ways you can use the cannabis and hemp products.

(Btw just because i agreed with it does not mean i do it)

Russia is overstepping its boundaries by invading the Ukraine much like Hitler did when he invaded the Sudetenland. America needs to respond in an appropriate way such as continued peace talks and negotiations involving the Ukrainian government.

A hot topic of discussion that has been in the news for about the last year is whether or not states should legalize marijuana. States should not continue to follow the trend of legalizing marijuana due to the fact that it is just another drug for people to get addicted to or misuse; the last thing we need is for our roads to be filled with more people under the influence of something or another that affects our reaction times. Also, just because some are choosing to sell and buy legally, does not mean that everyone is. There are still plenty of sellers out there that are selling unregulated product just as they did before the laws.

Regarding immigration, the current policy has been too lenient on illegal immigrants and little has been done. There have been 8.5 million unauthorized immigrants living in the US for the past 5 years (MPI). All people migrating to the US should go through all the necessary requirements to become a citizen so they can have as much of an equal opportunity as the rest of the US citizens.

Legalizing Marijuana for medical use can be helpful to people in many different ways, including children with muscle spasms and people that have multiple sclerosis. A Governments roll is to help its people and to keep them safe and healthy, so if there is something they can do about it, like legalizing medical marijuana, they should.

A government's role is to promote equality. However, the government blatantly disregarded this by allowing other organizations the right to peacefully protest but denied the citizens of Ferguson to do so.

In regards to immigration, a government should have strict security and policy to keep any illegal immigrants out of its country. Because if they get in then they could take jobs from US citizens looking for jobs. Also, most could be bringing illegal weapons and/or drugs with them.

(accidentally posted my comment before I had finished)

A government's role is to promote equality for each and every citizen. However, the government blatantly disregarded this by allowing other organizations, no matter how malicious their intent, the right to peacefully protest other events but denied the citizens of Ferguson to do so after the death of Michael Brown. Violence emerged from both sides of the spectrum, citizens and local government, as a result of this.

The recent conflicts in Ferguson, Missouri have shed quite a bit of light on the issue of police militarization. Since the rise of the 'war on drugs,' the government has increased the sale of military weaponry and tools to local and state police forces. However, since the recent developments in Ferguson, many citizens are calling out to return to the previous paradigm of police simply keeping the peace, rather than enforcing laws in such a militaristic way.

The recent misuse of firearms in Ferguson, Missouri has left many citizens across the nation questioning the tactics used by the local police force in the situation that was at hand. It is the military's job to protect it's citizens from any life-threatening situations in which firearms are needed. The unnecessary use of firearms by the local police department in Ferguson proves that the military forces should be the only ones who are allowed to use assault firearms against citizens or outside forces who are threats to the nation.

In reference to immigration, one of the government's duties is to provide assistance to all people in need, which includes immigrants seeking refuge in its boarders. It should be regulated to protect against people looking to harm the courntry, but it should still provide refuge to those immigrants looking to start a new life.

Frac sand mining can bring both positive economic effects and negative environmental effects to a community. Although the natural gas business is creating more jobs, the government should still regulate the companies if they contaminate the land too much.

Marijuana can be used to alleviate various medical conditions such as nausea as a side effect of cancer treatment, as well as muscle tension. The drug's ability to subdue medical ailments should lead the government to legalize it because the government's duty is to look out for the peoples' well being.

In regard to campaign finance, the government should spend less on promoting the ideas of what they plan to do in office and more on actually spending money on those ideas. If all candidates would agree to this, then the money would be spent in a much more useful and productive way.

Marijuana, or cannabis is a very helpful product medically. It can help people who are in pain by alleviating the pain. All states should have medical marijuana legalized and strictly regulated otherwise it may be abused.

Although it is considered mild, marijuana acts as a gateway drug to other drugs such as cocaine that can alter one's decisions and pose as threats to one's livelihood. A country's main concern is its people, and the government should strive to ensure the safety of its people at all costs. Therefore, the United States should not legalize marijuana, keeping it illegal in order to properly protect the citizens from themselves.

Russia has been aiding the rebels in Ukraine by sending in troops and other forces, which has caused the United States and the rest of NATO to get involved. No troops have yet been sent from the United States because we are trying to negotiate and not go to war unless absolutely necessary. Hopefully these negotiations go well because the United States government should be more concerned about the well being of its citizens than over outside affairs.

On the topic of immigrants, the government should be open to accept them into the country. Mainly because most of the citizens of the Untied States descend from immigrants. They should not be keeping out people who are just trying to better themselves. We are the land of the free and we are all equal. Keeping people out goes against what the states were created for

The legalization of marijuana yields many questions and erupts much controversy, however, this drug should not become an item that is relevant in the everyday lives of citizens for several reasons. Marijuana is a mind altering substance with addictive properties that can cause both physical and emotional scars. A drug like this does not belong in the hands of the uneducated and should therefore be left to use only for medicinal purposes.

From an economic standpoint, marijuana should be legalized. The government could treat the drug like cigarettes or alcohol, heavily taxing it, therefore generating millions of dollars in new tax revenue which could go towards education, better facilities for our veterans, and healthcare. In addition the legalization of marijuana would take power away from violent drug cartels, which the government has an obligation to protect its citizens from.

Any government, whether it's a democratic or a self-proclaimed decree, in this case ISIS cannot base it's leadership on any type of religion particularly when more than one sect is present within the society. Which does not defend their act of terrorism against other governments.

Currently in the U.S. there is an existing frame work for immigration. It can take years to become a citizen but that is the legal process. There are many who are seeking permanent residency and citizenship through legal means, it is not fair to those who are doing it according to our laws. They should not be pushed to the back of the line by those who choose to enter the country illegally. Those who simply enter the country without credentials are illegal aliens, not immigrants. There is a legal process in the United States that facilitates legal immigration that should be followed in order to be fair to all.

The possession of weapons such as pistol by police officers leads to more pain than it does order. In the disputed case in Ferguson, Missouri both sides agree on one thing, that the struggle began once the weapon was threatened and that is what provoked the beating and then the retaliation of shooting and death of a teenager by the police officer.

In the current situation with ISIS it is easy to forget or simply block out the atrocities being committed half a world away. However, the government is an institution created to advance the interests of the populous as a whole, and the severe degradation of human beings, even those not part of the populous, warrants, in the interest of the people, a humanitarian action to curb the horrors being committed in the Middle East.

In March 1939, the Nazis invaded Czechoslocakia, and the world did nothing. It was not until the Nazis invaded Poland that we realized the full power of the Nazi forces, leading to WWII. In February of 2014, Russia invaded Ukraine, but will this lead to WWIII? America along with other strong countries (such as those the United Nations and European Union) have the ability and authority to communicate with Russia, either with negotiation or force, about their unjust actions against Ukraine. World powers cannot let history repeat itself, we must stop Russia from invading and terrorizing Ukraine because if we don’t stop this, who knows where it will end or where it will lead. Russia is a bully and if mistreatment isn’t tolerated at JM, it shouldn’t be allowed at a global level.

In the best interest in ones economy, marijuana should be legalized. By legalizing marijuana, we can focus on more important problems. Job opportunities start to open up, more tax money starts adding up, and then being able to put that tax money towards educational purposes that help future problems. Legalizing marijuana will minimize the illegal "drug deals" and "drug smuggling" that takes place, which also decreases crime rates.

ISIS stands for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. It is a group of extremists who are trying to gain political control over several middle eastern countries. Currently, the U.S. has launched airstrikes against this terrorist group...

The US should limit involvement in this situation as they have already provided supplies and supported several countries against ISIS.

Regarding the legalization of marijuana, the government should continue to legalize the drug for medicinal use. Not only does marijuana alleviate pain but also decreases some of the side effects of other treatments, such as Chemo Therapy, and on an economic standpoint the legalization gives the economy growth.

As one of the most controversial topics in recent years, legalizing marijuana is a trend that needs to be stopped. It is just another drug that can lead to severe and disturbing consequences when it provides minimal gain to society other than tax revenue. The government should avoid greed and think what is best for the people.

ISIS is a relatively new terrorist group in the area of Iraq and Syria. This new group aims to unify the area of Iraq and Syria using scare tactics and violence. Now ISIS has brought their tactics into the business of the United States by executing American hostages. The United States government needs to stay calm and prioritize putting the Syrian and Iraqi people on our side to defeat ISIS.

Immigration and it's laws have been crucial parts to political debates for a number of years. While most measures the U.S has taken have been useful, there are still loopholes and many people immigrate here illegally. Security needs to be added if the government ever wants to truly stop illegal immigration, but until then the issue will continue to fester.

Illegal Immigration from namely Mexico into the United States has been center stage in the politics realm. Illegal immigrants' consumption of American resources (social programs etc.) and lack of paying taxes strain the economy in an already turbulent time. Provided the nation's infrastructure can handle the influx in population, the government should make the path to immigration more widely accessible as regardless of their economic status, immigrants have created the melting pot that has fueled the United States into the superpower it is today.

In situations similar to the current one with ISIS, the US government ought first to think of its own people. Though some feel as if there is a moral obligation to help the victims of ISIS, and while this may be true to a certain extent, the first thought should be of the people of the United States. Endangerment of allied lives beyond what is absolutely necessary should be avoided if at all possible.

In regards to the Frac Sand Mining occurring in states such as Minnesota and Wisconsin, the United States' government should take a greater role in monitoring this potentially harmful endeavor. Because of the sand's use in North Dakota's hydraulic fracturing for natural gas, frac sand mining has been shown to be an economically sound addition to the economy, but the environmental factors from mining (i.e. air and water pollution, destruction of environment, etc.) are too dangerous to ignore. A government's goal is to better the lives of the citizens it represents, and by ruining the environment, mining for frac sand puts those citizens right in harm's way.

Many times people will see ads for the latest candidates or government policies on the rise; however, they may not know that campaigning is one of the heaviest expenses candidates will face. But, like many, they fail to realize that the funds used were donations from those who favor a selected party. Since the government abolished a cap amount a party could receive, it is believed to be unfair as the Republican party has received more than the Democratic party. Although the financing covers travel costs, personal staff, and other expenditures, the whole goal of campaigning is to influence viewers to support whatever is being proposed. Instead of investing millions of dollars into campaigning, candidates could be more efficient and spend the money on their ideas.

The legalization of marijuana has been debated recently within the United States. Marijuana is used for medicinal purposes such as nausea from cancer chemotherapy and controlling seizures, an example in which marijuana effectively impacts our society in a positive manner. Marijuana should be legalized in all states, but should be restricted for medicinal use only, to prevent the addiction and negative outcomes that result from unprescribed usage.

The legalization of Marijuana in the United States has the potential for more negative effects than positive, therefore Marijuana should not become legalized in the United States as it is the country's prime interest to protect the welfare of the people. Having medical Marijuana will lead to acquiring other illegal drugs and thereby increasing the need for greater law enforcement.

The Immigration debate has been a constant concern of the U.S government for many years and is polarized by political parties opinions. One of the concerns is illegal immigration into the U.S. Related to that is of the recent substantial increase in child immigrants from Central America without their parents. Rather than treating these children as immigrants, we as a government, should be considering them as refugees fleeing persecution.

The legalization of marijuana has been a hot topic of discussion for the government over the past decade. Some states have recently began experimenting with the legalization of both medicinal, and recreational uses, which in turn, has actually boosted these states' economies. A government's main duty is to represent its people, so eventually marijuana will be legalized, if and only if the majority of the public wishes it so.

Legalizing marijuana in the United States is one of the most controversial subjects to date. Many people believe that the legalization of this plant will lead to the result of a slippery slope - that there will be an overall increase in the use of drugs such as heroin and methamphetamine throughout the country - but such assumptions are simply untrue. Statistics show that legalizing marijuana does not have a direct impact on the usage of other drugs, and has multiple medicinal benefits that overshadow any potentially misconstrued data involving marijuana. Many individuals suffering from cancer and various mental illness have found the plant to be beneficial to their treatment process, and making this plant legal to use under medical supervision means that their mental an physical pain would be greatly alleviated. A government has the responsibility to make decisions that will benefit it's people, and with the proper restrictions and protocols, the United States government can positively impact this country through the legalization of marijuana.

So far, 23 of our 50 states currently have legalised the use of medical marijuana. If states continue to legalise marijuana it would help not only the economy but the people as well. Studies show that Marijuana has been found to help people with mental illnesses and chemotherapy deal with their diseases as they continue their treatments. If all states were to join together and legalise marijuana overall it can positively impact the health of the United States citizens as a whole.

Marijuana, used for recreational or medical purposes, is not deserving of the harsh legal consequences that it can carry in many states. Non-violent drug offences account for about 50% of our prison population, and over a quarter of those offences are due to marijuana. Marijuana's status as an illegal drug greatly contributes to our massive prison population, a cost that is being passed onto the tax payers.

Sadly, I have trouble following current events, although in class it appeared as though there may be a chance for illegal immigrants to gain citizenship. Since America was created by and for what would now be considered 'illegal' immigrants, this would be more consistent with what we stood for before, and hopefully again.

I am on the side of not legalizing Marijuana. As we have learned in health class, Marijuana is a gateway drug that could potentially cause users to try other drugs that will negatively impact our society. If Marijuana were legalized, it would increase the risk of more people driving under the influence.

Legalizing marijuana has been a debatable topic in recent years. The government should be making economic decisions that help better our economy and make it stronger, and if legalizing marijuana does do that, than the government would be making a wise choice in legalizing it.

The situation in Ferguson quickly escalated after a cop shot and killed a believed to be innocent black male on the streets. Activists started to protest against the police department, accusing cops of being racists. The police acted out to control the protests, but it turned into riots and police had to get violent. Many people believed the cops were acting more like an army than a police department. People's views of the cops in recent years has gone from feeling protected and safe, to being scared and paranoid, shifting their paradigms.

ISIS is the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. This group has become more of a threatening issue more recently. They have been taking control of many middle eastern countries, and currently control hundreds of square miles. ISIS is known for killing many people and holding public executions and crucifixions. Some of their most recent acts included releasing public videos of them decapitating and beheading two different US journalists. They have also been kidnapping US citizens in that area.
The United States needs to become more involved with this situation. Some believe that we should stay neutral in events like this and stay out of it to avoid farther problems. However, when our own people are being kidnapped and murdered, we're already involved.
