Here are a few websites you can go to help you understand where you fit within the political spectrum of Liberal vs Conservative in case you are still struggling, confused or just curious.

The Political Spectrum

The Political Compass

Beyond Red and Blue

How Liberal or Conservative are you?

Take one of these (or more if curious) and then write a quick reflection of what you learned about yourself. Post should be done before we meet again after MEA break.

I took all four quizes and my results were contradictory.
The first test said I should be in "Authoritarians Anonymous". The second said I was "Libertarian". The third said I was "Liberal". And the fourth told me I was "60% Conservative 40% Liberal".

By taking these quizes I learned that I would pretty much do whatever the gov't says (quiz 1), that I would do well in an Anarchist Gov't meaning "voluntary collectivism at regional level, with no state involved" (quiz 2), and as state above, I learned that I would be a Liberal and that I would be a Conservative. Overall, this tells me I would have a 50-50 view point on politics, 50% Liberal and 50% Conservative.

I took all 4 quizzes and I found the last two to be the most effective. The last one said that I was 35% Liberal and 65% conservative, which I would say is an accurate depiction of me. The thing that I think was most helpful was that it broke things down even further into things like economically, ethically, etc. The thing I liked about the 3rd one is that it gave you more than just A or B and let you show that some issues were more important to you than others. ANd, the last one put you into a specified group. I found out that I am a middle of the road Conservative.

Well I took all four as well and the ones that I thought fit me the most were quizzes 3 and 4. Especially quiz 3 because it said that I was disaffected, and when I read about what that meant, I agreed with all of it. Because it basically said that I was discontent with the government and authority, which is true since I believe that a lot of the things that the government does could be done differently and in a better fashion. But yeah thats pretty much what I got, the most confusing of the quizzes though was the 2nd one- I didn't really understand it.

How Liberal or Conservative Are You?

I took the test and it said that I was overall 45% Conservative and 55% Liberal.
Overall: 45% Conservative, 55% Liberal

Social Issues: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal

Personal Responsibility: 0% Conservative, 100% Liberal

Fiscal Issues: 75% Conservative, 25% Liberal

Ethics: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal

Defense and Crime: 75% Conservative, 25% Liberal

I definately feel that on some topics I lean more one way than another. The test is fairly accurate because it points out that sometimes I lean more one way than the other, but I always thought myself to either be more conservative(republican) or moderate(in the middle).

Beyond Red and Blue

My results said that I was a Social Conservative.
It's pretty much right about what the views that were mentioned. I do attend church pretty much weekly. I agree that some support for government regulation to protect the environment.

I feel that this test result shows that I am somewhat a republican, even though the How Liberal or Conservative are you? test shows that on some topics I lean more one way than the other.
Overall I'd still say that I am a moderate with a lean toward republican/conservative.

Liberal vs. Conservative

According to this quiz I am 25% c. and 75% l. when it comes to social issues, and 50% c. 50% l. when it comes to fiscal issues. The most interesting one for me was ethics. This quiz told me that when it comes to ethics, I am 100% liberal. Now what does that mean? To tell you the truth, I looked it up and I don't rightly know. So I suppose, that is my question for the week. What are liberal ethics?

I took the "How liberal or Conservative are you?" Quiz and i am 40% Conservative and 60% Liberal. I learned that I am stuck in the middle on certain aspects of life. One of the funny things of this test is that it says on social issues I am 100% Liberal. Which I completely agree with. The rest of the issues dealt with on this site vary between having C being 75% and L being 25% to being switched with C being 25 and L being 75, I thought that was a little weird, but probable true.

I took the first quiz and it told me that I was a state worshiping authoritarian. I then went on to read about how the results were calculated and concluded that whoever created that quiz was extremely anarchistic, basically bashing anybody who clicked the "wrong" answer on each question. They did have a very logical argument on why anarchy is not bad, though at the same time I think anarchy would only work if people could be trusted with it. I decided that I must have been pretty influenced by the "state of nature" and such that Hobbes talked about becuase when I think of anarchy I now expect that it would be chaos and destruction. Yes, the site argues that anarchy by itself does not mean this because it is natural for animals to eat each other and is only negative on one end. Still, though, that's implying that anarchy is good as long as you're the one that's eating. I don't know if I really agree on that note, especially if there was anarchy in such a large country as America. I think it would work in a small area though. So the quiz made me realize that anarchy perhaps isn't as bad as I may have viewed it and that I'm apparently slightly delusional... Though I also struggled answering the questions to begin with becuase I could sort of see both sides. I'm very hesitant when you can only answer true or false on such things.

I took 3 out of the 4 quizzes and they were each a little bit different but mostly they told me the same thing.

In the first quiz it framed me as being authoritarian anonymous by 2 points. So I was pretty close to being in the middle for that quiz.
In the third quiz it told me that I was a conservative democrat. They went on to explain that I was more moderate with certain sides on certain issues. I wasn't leaning to one side or the other.
In the fourth test it said that I was 60% Conservative and 40% Liberal. In the social issues and facial issues I tended to lean more towards the conservative side and on personal and ethical issues I tended to lean more towards the liberal side. So again I was leaning more towards being neutral.

These tests added to the test we took in class because in all the tests I was more moderate and not leaning to either side.

I took the How Liberal Or Conservative Are You quiz and here are my results:

Overall: 40% Conservative, 60% Liberal

Social Issues: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal

Personal Responsibility: 0% Conservative, 100% Liberal

Fiscal Issues: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal

Ethics: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal

Defense and Crime: 100% Conservative, 0% Liberal

First of all I don't think that any of these tests can completely represent a person's views because of their lack of options to a question and because of the questions that were asked (there were also some spelling mistakes). The test said that overall i was more liberal than conservative, pretty much moderate, which I agree with.

I took the 4th quiz: How Liberal or Conservative Are You? Considering that in class I scored a 13, my results of 55% liberal and 45% conservative were pretty accurate. But the fact that I am more toward the "middle" made it hard for me to choose answers that were at the extremes regarding the question. I would not recommend this quiz if you are more of an Independent voter or thinker

WHOAHHH. i didn't know i was so moderate -__-" I thought I would be more liberal. Especially when it came to the more Defense and Crime portion of the little survey thing. As for the social part, I thought I'd be more conservative. -__-" but I guess not? or maybe this test thing was wrong :P very cool very cool. I learned that I'm more purple than I am blue. =)

After taking all four of these quizzes, some general conclusions I've come to are that I am a liberal and a libertarian. I wouldn't say I am a total liberal, because there are some issues where I have a conservative view, but it just so happens that overall I have more liberal views. The same goes for my libertarian views; in some areas I am more authoritarian, but overall I am more of a libertarian.

Well I took all four quizes and i guess i happen to be a state-worshipping authoritoarion, a libertarian leftist (like Gandhi!!), a disadvantaged democrat, and 25%c. 75% l. Taking all of that into account i realized that i don't follow a certain party but just go with my views. I understand the difference between the parties in general its just on some issues i am still confused if anyone has any ideas for clarification that would be great! :)

I took all four quizes, but I thought that the best of them was the last quiz. I was 45% conservative and 55% Liberal, which I believe is close to what I actually am. I liked how it broke things down into smaller groups. It was amazing to see how my views can change depending on what the topic is.
About those first three quizes, I was confused by some of the questions, so i'm not sure if I answered them all correctly. Also, I disliked how some of the layouts were for the questions where there seemed to be no right answer for me.

You're a state-worshipping authoritarian; you probably vote Democrat or Republican along strict party lines

the last one said

Economic Left/Right: -4.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.92

overall i took these tests to say that i am slightly more conservative, but very close to the middle on most subjects, but a few i feel very strongly about

After taking the quizes, I found out that I am near the middle in all of them. One quiz said I was 45% liberal and 55% conservative, which is about the same as the test we took in class. However, one quiz said that 'you would most likely shove your neighbor into an oven if authorities told you to.' I thought that this was a stupid and worthless statement about my quiz because I didn't learn anything about myself. I also found out that I share some of the beliefs of Gandhi on the political compass.

I thought that the test is very interesting. According to "How Liberal or Conservative are You?" I am 50% liberal and 50% conservative. That seems pretty accurate because I am very liberal on some issues and very conservative on others. For example, according to the test I am 100% conservative on personal responsibility, and 75% conservative on fiscal issues. But, I am 75% liberal on social issues, ethics, and defense and crime. Although my overall viewpoint is 50-50, on most issues I either agree STRONGLY with liberals or conservatives.

"You're a state-worshipping authoritarian; you probably vote Democrat or Republican along strict party lines"

Okay, before taking the first quiz I was pretty sure I knew where I stood, but holy cow, I'm a stat-worshipping authoritarian. I don't like to vote along "strict party lines", I like to vote for the candidate who I think would be the most effective. I'm not sure if I even agree with the quizzes, I did learn however that by answering such questions I had a hard time simply answering yes or no... I'm definately not voting because of strict party lines... I did learn what the word authoritarian meant though :-)

Overall: 70% C, 30% L; this according to the 4th quiz. The 3rd quiz calculated me to be an "upbeat independent." I can see both of these to hold truth. The third quiz displayed my state of mind when considering government. In basic terms I trust it and feel that it tries to do what's best for it's citizens- an upbeat independent lens. However, my results from the last quiz echo my view that the government does not need to have so much control in order for our society to succeed.
I am slowly gaining grips with my political position, seeing where I fit and why. These quizzes helped me to see why I am more conservative than liberal and which issues depict that.

well i took the first test and came back with an 18. After the test, the website said i should join AA and i would most likely burn my neighbors alive in my oven if the government told me to do so. I was quite repulsed by this. To be Frank i was furious with their answer. I checked all the other answers and unless you got a zero you received a comment just like mine. The only good answer was. "Your an Anarchist, Congratulations!" Where do these people get off celebrating anarchy??? Do they realize what kind of nation we would live in if there was complete anarchy?
Needless to say i'm angry about this test, actually i'm angry at the makers of this test. I will take my 18 proudly and you know what, i will go to my bi-weekly Authoritarian Anonymous meetings and look forward to my neighbor pie if the only good solution is anarchy

if anarchy doesn't work because people can't be trusted, how does setting up a system of power with a monopoly on violence that attracts only the power-hungry improve the situation?
