OBAMA 2008?
George Will has a great article that should make all you Obama fans out there excited. Even if you aren't though (Guiliani 2008?), there is plenty in this article to give us some things to talk about as we head into our unit on the Executive Branch.

I agree that Obama has a strong following right now, but will he maintain it through 2008? To me that seems questionable. Will does make a point, though, that Obama is in a rather awkward position of when to run. He's currently got the Democrats under his "spell" so to speak, but if he waits eight years to run he risks a loss, according to history. But does history repeat itself? Time will tell...
Obama's lack of experience in international affairs is why he should not and probably will not win the candidacy. Bush Jr. had absolutely none and look where that got us.
In a post-9/11 world, combined with mess we've created in Iraq, American's are going to think twice before electing a president who has not proven they understand and have experience in international affairs.
I am one of Obama's number one supporters and would love to have him as my next president. However for his young daughters sake, I hope he won't run. I fear for his safety and as good as I think he would be for our country, his number one job is Daddy to his children. I would never have said that twenty years ago. Unfortunately with age sometimes comes a lack of idealism, which saddens me somewhat.
My sister in the Detroit area says that white supremists are plotting against Obama. She is a white woman married to a black man and does diversity training for schools and police departments.
